Kadir took Hewitt's tips on way to title

RECENT time spent hitting with Lleyton Hewitt was the catalyst behind Sadik Kadir winning his third Open Men’s title at the Manly Seaside Championships that wrapped up last week.

The top seed was at his clinical best, breaking down the power game of Dane Propoggia 6-2, 6-3, in a little over an hour.

Heading into the final, Kadir knew if his serve was on song, he would be hard to beat.

The 28-year-old pointed to the “one per cent moments” that made all the difference.

“It is the little things that make certain players so good,” he said.

“Everyone expected me to win (at Manly) and that pressure can get to you at times.

“After watching Lleyton closely when we trained together in early December, it was obvious what I had to work on.

“I set about constructing my points better and I was pleased to see it come off in the Seaside.”
